Really excellet writing that moves at a sharp pace. I could hardly put it down. This is how all novels should be.

3.0 out of 5 stars An unusual, but good, crime thriller. 7 July 2014
By TonyW - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This is the first book I've read by Roxann Hill and I found it easy to read (German is not my first language) with an interesting storyline and a very unusual team of investigators, namely an ex policewoman (Anne Steinbach) and a priest (Paul Wagner) and some peripheral characters. All of the characters are likeable, except of course the "bad guys"! The reason why Anne is no longer in the police is not clear but I suspect that this is a storyline which will span several books, so having read the second book also, I'd suggest reading the novels in sequence
.
The only thing I didn't like were the several "action scenes" where against all odds Anne and Paul came off best. Another unusual element is that unlike any other crime novel that I've read the location for the story is a complete mystery - it could be Munich or Berlin or anywhere in between, but that doesn't detract from the book.

I liked the book enough to buy the second novel in the series "Die Träner der toten Nonne", which I think is better.

This is a fun book to read with a refreshingly new breed of characters. The German edition was for me a little harder than average to manage but not too hard (college German only). I'm a little worried that the main character will no longer be the sexy attractive female she is if she keeps getting so many knocks on the head and flesh wounds during her adventures. Also the pistol she carries continues to not help much in her encounters. I think you will really like reading this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a good mystery novel 16 Aug. 2014

Spannend! Will definitely read more by this author. The title of the book was a bit misleading, it wasn't at all far fetched or "strange". Just a good mystery novel!
