TOP 500 REVIEWERon 24 March 2016
I liked the look of this meter but wasn't prepared to wait 3-4 weeks for a delivery from China. Fortunately, in the 'Other Sellers' option, there was one which was 'Fulfilled by Amazon' & also 'Prime' so I chose that. It added a couple of pounds to the price but it still cost less that £6 and I had the meter the next day.

As many other reviewers have mentioned the instructions have been poorly translated from [presumably] Chinese and don't help at all. So, I have taken the liberty of including my own instructions at the end of this review.

The meter takes one AAA battery (which isn't included). All you have to do is put it in and the meter starts working immediately.

To summarise the features of this meter, it tells you the current temperature, humidity, time & date. It also keeps track of the maximum & minimum temperature & humidity. Just for good measure, it also has an Alarm although I doubt I will use that.

With regard to accuracy, it seems about right. I put it next to a completely different temperature & humidity checker that I bought a few years ago. After an hour one was reading 20.2C & 44% and the other was reading 19.9C & 42%. That is good enough for me.

The display is quite big with each digit being about 2cm high. I imagine most people will be able to read it from the other side of a room. There is no backlight so you can't use it in a dark room but the contrast is good and you can easily make out everything out from just about any angle.

So, if you want to know the humidity & temperature, this little device does the job for a very affordable price.

Anyway, here are my instructions in case they are of help:

To set Clock
Hold Mode until beep
Press or hold 'Adj' until correct minute is shown
Press Mode
Press or hold 'Adj' until correct Hour is shown
Press Mode
Press 'Adj' to toggle between a 12 hour clock or 24 hour clock
Press Mode
Press or hold 'Adj' until correct Month is shown
Press Mode
Press or hold 'Adj' until correct Date is shown

To switch between Celcius & Fahrenheit
There is a little black switch, next to the battery compartment underneath the recess for the stand. Pressing this will toggle between Farenheit & Celcius. Note that you can't see the switch unless the stand is 'out'.

To see Min & Max settings
Press 'Memory' to see 'Max'
Press 'Memory' again to see 'Min'
Press 'Memory' again to go back to current readings

To reset 'Min' & 'Max'
Press 'Memory' to see 'Max'
Press & Hold 'Memory' until you hear a beep & the Min/Max reading change to current reading

To see the date
Press 'Adj'. Date will show for a few seconds and then revert to clock

To Toggle between Alarm Time & normal clock Time
Press & release 'Mode'

To set the Alarm Time
Press & release 'Mode' to switch to the Alarm Time
Press & Hold'Mode' until the minutes start flashing
Press 'Adj' to set the Alarm Minutes
Press & release 'Mode'. The Hour will start flashing
Press 'Adj' to set the Alarm Hours
Press & release 'Mode' to finish the Alarm Time setting

To Turn the Alarm On
Press 'Mode' (the clock will change to the current Alarm time)
Press 'Adj' and the Word 'Alarm' will appear
If you Press 'Adj' again, a little symbol will appear instead of the word 'Alarm'. I haven't worked out what this does but the instructions describe it as 'The whole point of time' function.
Press 'Mode' again to go back to the normal clock

To Turn the Alarm Off
Press 'Mode' (the clock will change to the current Alarm time)
Press 'Adj' and the Word 'Alarm' will appear
Press 'Adj' again, the little symbol will appear instead of the word 'Alarm'.
Press 'Adj' again, the little symbol will display as well as the word 'Alarm'.
Press 'Adj' again, both the symbol & the word 'Alarm' will disappear and the Alarm is turned off
Press 'Mode' again to go back to the normal clock.

From my research - the average room humidity should be around 40-55%. My problem room was up in the 70s, which is terrible. So, now I can see when I have the room vented properly as it's dropped to the low 60s. Still a bit high, according to the readout (if it's to be believed) but nearer to the goal.

You get what you pay for, I know, but I wish I'd just fronted the money and bought something a little better quality. It's temperature reading is a couple of degrees under my better thermometer, so I'm not sure how off the humidity is, which is more important to me.

When it did eventually arrive, it was fairly easy to set etc. It takes one AAA battery, has a loud beep when setting the time and date, and is all self-explanatory. FORGET the instructions as they're utterly useless.

The only reason I haven't scored this worse is simply due to its price. Worth it as an extra, but don't bother if you're after something a little more accurate.

For the price I paid I can only recommend this as 5 star!

I purchased 4 and normalise the readings against a calibrated source. Two of the units were 0.0C, one -0.2C and the last +0.3C. The RHs were all witin 1 or 2% of each other too. It would be nice to be able to easily tweak them to be all the same - but I put a calibration sticker on the back of each to remind me to make a manual adjustment - but really - it is more than accurate enough for the purpose of adjusting thermostatic radiator valves on a new central heating system.

When the room temperatures are approximately correct - I am going to put each on the radiator to measure the maximum value of heat - with four units I can do it relatively to many rads simultaneously and finely balance the system. Cool.... or hot!!!

You can say that I should have read the description, but this thermometer is massive! it is a big 10 cm by 10 cm square, which might not sounds like a lot but actually is. I now use it in my garage where at least I can see it really easily, but I would not recommend it for a highly visited room.

Apart from that it does the job and is accurate, which is what you actually need from a thermometer.

I'm really happy with this purchase. When it first arrived, it was quick to set up, although I was concerned about the stand stability. But since setting it up, I've not paid any attention to the stand at all. The temperature and humidity fluctuated a lot when I first turned it on, but probably it was just adjusting itself and now it is more stable.

I say don't expect perfection because I take the readings with a pinch of salt - they are probably not entirely accurate. It is normally a Celsius or two below the temperature reading on the August MB300 Mini Wooden MP3 Stereo System and FM Clock Radio, with Card Reader, USB Port & AUX Jack (3.5mm Audio In), 2 x 3W Powerful Hi-Fi Speakers and Built-in Rechargeable Battery I bought over a year ago, which has a temperature display also, but I haven't checked to see which is actually more accurate. However, it does give a good indication of the rise or drop in both temperature and relative humidity, and so I can also see the effectiveness of my new dehumidifier - which is why I purchased it.

I'd consider buying this again if I wanted to put another one in another room in the house to compare temperatures and relative humidity, especially as it is such a reasonable price and it looks good too.

Good indicator of temperature and humidity, it's quite accurate comparing it with my other thermometers, I bought this to take on my holidays so I know what the time and temperature is and if needed can set the alarm. The down side is that it takes a long time to come, about 3 weeks, but then it would, coming from Hong Kong. And secondly as some other reviews mentioned you may have to move the contact over slightly with a small screwdriver to make contact with the battery but still worth a 5 star and would recommend to anybody.

I love this thermometer it is very accurate and I use it on a daily basis, i have a high moisture of 70% in my house so when it reaches that i know i need to heat the room more and open a window to dry it out, it has helped in controlling an issue I had in my bedroom with Black Mold this constant monitoring has enabled me to eradicate the problem... 3 years later, its still working like day one, battery replaced once since then.
[...]. Thank you. ❤️

Does what it says on the pack but I haven't managed to change the clock - it just won't do that, but the rest works nicely enough, and that's not why i bought it - though a working clock would have been handy. A handy purchase. Instructions - 'could be better'.

It does work well most of the time and the thermometer seems accurate. The clock however occasionally seems to lose time - replacing with new branded batteries several times did not fix this. Nonetheless as a cheap accurate thermometer it does the job.

Does what it says on data sheet. Set up Instructions very badly translated from Chinese. I manage to find a good English instruction set up posted in the product reviews which allowed me to set the device up correctly. Apart from that I am happy with the product
