Awesome Firestarter Paracord Bracelet - perfect for guys!
on 25 April 2014
When I was asked to review this product by The Friendly Swede I was so pleased as I am a gal who loves the great outdoors here in rural Scotland and one of my passions is outdoor kit of any kind. I love Paracord bracelets because they are a fantastic way to carry inconspicuously (and often decoratively) a healthy quantity of what could, ultimately be a lifesaving item - Paracord.
I first learnt about the many uses of Paracord when I met my hubby who back then was in the Armed Forces and he taught me about its many uses and how I should always have some with me. I've always followed that advice and in several situations I have found myself in over the years, its proved invaluable. Whoever invented Paracord bracelets is a genius!
What makes this Paracord bracelet stand out and made me want it is the addition of the firestarter - comprising of a length of jute that is woven into the Paracord and it also has a flint toggle. You will always be able to start a fire with this on your wrist. Now in my opinion, its way too big for me, I am a slim lass with slim wrists and even adjusting it, it was too big and too chunky for me, so I reluctantly gave it to my husband and he was very, very pleased with it. It looked good on his wrist, was easy to fasten and felt comfortable to wear. The magic happens though when you take it out into the wilds to play with!
A few days ago we packed up some backpacks and headed out into a nearby forest with our Kelly Kettle and this bracelet. Now I normally use Kapok as the tinder to start my fire but on this occasion we decided to use the jute that was a part of the Paracord bracelet my hubby was wearing. It was easy to remove from the bracelet by snapping the glue spot and un-weaving the jute carefully from the bracelet. The bracelet was left intact and thus did not spoil and was left to go back on his chunky wrist to be a great survival aid for another day. I prepared the base of my Kelly Kettle using the jute fibres (rubbed with a little petroleum jelly) as a base and used the flint on the toggle of the Paracord Bracelet (back off his wrist again!) to light the jute tinder and get my fire started. Though the flint is quite small it was easy to get a spark from and thus start my fire. Lighting the fire with the flint also did not damage the bracelet, so once again it lived to save the day, another day.
We enjoyed our brew whilst we marveled at the intricacy of the weave on the bracelet and how good it looked. Its really good that it was too big and chunky for me as hubby wanted it badly and has worn it daily since I gave it to him. It looks good!
So, I highly recommend this Paracord fire-starter bracelet for guys (or gals with big wrists) as it looks superb, is fantastically masculine on my hubby's wrists, enabled us to start a fire with no trouble whatsoever, is expertly constructed with thick premium 350lb Paracord and you will not be disappointed in any way with this Paracord bracelet.
