The book also spent alot of time worry about the fate of Odette, his courier and lover, who was capture with him, and was understood to have suffered more than he did. Post publication, and in recent accounts his and Odette's account of their efforts and experiences appear to have been revised in less positive light, and in SOE in France, his efforts relegated to marginal contributions, and their capture largely caused by their own poor security arrangements.
A good wartime account, lucky to survive, and tell the tail, which many of his early war colleagues did not achieve. Book was signed by the author, which was a bonus.
That person, Mr Stefanov was a friend of my father, and politically they did work together, before he met with Mr.P.Churchill.I met Mr. Stefanov in Rome, and many many years later I was visiting him in France. He wrote a book, and mentioned Mr.P.Churchill quite often. That is the reason that I bought the Spirit in the cage. Mr. Stefanov, is actually Nikolaj Nikollajevich Rutchenko-Rutich. It would be very interesting if somebody could translate his book from Russian to English language. ISBN 978-5-85887-429-9 and ISBN 978- 5-902797-02-9 WWW.RP-NET.ru
