As an Indian person I am quite skeptical about Indian cookery books, but this book is bang on. Really authentic. The spice levels are just right.

"Very Good Indeed" - by Dick Pearson (Newark, UK)
Note - this is specifically a review of the Kindle Edition.

Having watched Thomasina's recent TV series and seeing her 'take' on Mexican food, I was wary as although her recipes are simple and look good she does put her own slant on them. I was doubly wary as I know Kindle editions of some books just don't work - basically anything other than a novel often has navigational 'challenges' and often the pictures/diagrams etc aren't included.

I'm delighted to report that both of my reservations are unfounded - the recipes work well and the Kindle book is simple and easy to use and the illustrations are there (albeit, of course, in monochrome). The facility to download and review a sample proved a godsend with this book.

"Enticing and intriguing" - by Kathryn (England)
I bought this for my travel and spice loving cousin for Christmas. He was really inspired and was already planning a trip to his local Asian supermarket for ingredients within minutes of opening it. We both loved the way Tom Parker-Bowles sets the scene for each dish, bringing the whole street-food experience to life, which set us off on trips down memory lane to our own backstreet eating experiences.

A great buy for a foodie with itchy feet.

"A must for anyone who loves food" - by Amazon Customer
This book is awesome!! The food is so so tasty, there is something for everyone. I also like the fact that you find out lots about Korean culture. The authors are clearly very passionate and put some of their personality into it which makes you enjoy the food even more. When is the next one out!?

"Generally Pretty Good" - by Mr. J. Ballard (London, UK)
Generally pretty good so far, but I would add that the only recipe I've tried so far (Pad Thai) listed ingredients (palm sugar) that didn't appear to be used in the recipe. So I ended up winging it. I hope this doesn't recur as I don't want to waste money on unused ingredients.

"kind of beautiful" - by Colin J. Herd (Edinburgh)
I usually try to cook at least one thing from a cookbook before reviewing it but I haven't in this case. Partly because I haven't been cooking much at all recently because of a new job and generally feeling frustrated and unsettled at home. But also because I just finished it cover to cover and instantly knew I wanted to write about it, as a substitute for cooking from it I guess because I'm not anywhere near a kitchen right now.

If I was, I'd be out buying bunches of tarragon to make the sort of lurid looking oyster tarragon purée or a charger canister so i could dominate the dreamy seeming burrata understudy mozzarella mousse. If I didn't feel like going out I'd maybe content myself by trying the buttery flatbread which sounds pretty damn delicious.

I tend to find cookbooks pretty readable but I have never read a cookbook like ... full review

"Monisha was the most amazing teacher and fascinating lady" - by Crazy Cow Vet (UK)
I bought this book (actually 6 copies - Christmas pressies etc!) the night I returned from doing the most fabulous one day cookery course at Seasoned Cookery School in Derbyshire with Monisha. I do a lot of cooking and have attended a lot of cookery courses. Monisha was the most amazing teacher and fascinating lady. Her down to earth approach to what can best be described as proper Indian home cooking is so refreshing. Her food was some of the tastiest I've ever tasted, let alone made, and on returning home from my course, I have already recreated all but one of her dishes from the course. The book includes these recipes but also may other delicious but simple looking recipes. The photography in the book is beautiful and unlike so many cookbooks, you don't need to buy a million new ingredients just to ... full review

"Fantastic, a must for fans of real everyday Italian food!" - by spoonlamp (Albion)
Finally the book to complete our Italian lifestyle outside of Italy! It's full of all the snacks and street food we were used to eating in Italy on a daily basis and the recipes are so easy. We have purchased a great little deep fat fryer for less than £25 and are happily cooking our way through the book. We've so many Italian recipe books but this has all the best bits that they miss out. What's also great is that the recipes haven't been altered, like so many supposedly 'Italian' cookery books, it's all typical Italian!

"A brilliant book whether you are a street food vendor/aspiring" - by Tabbyiab (Dorchester, Dorset)
A brilliant book whether you are a street food vendor/aspiring, or an everyday cook looking for something different in a cookbook. Definitely well worth it!
