"Funny, heartbreaking, raw.....just everything" - by Mumu99 (london)
Bloody brilliant. Everyone must read this - the sad truth of life and working as a junior doctor. Witty, painful, gritty...the book has it all. I might have shed the odd tear along the way but mostly laughed out loud. Exceptional read and look forward to more from the author.

"Socially as well as sportingly insightful" - by Paul Laxton
A top, top book, not just for its clear insights into the game but also for the window it opens on northern working class life for the baby boomer generation as they grew up. No self respecting home sports library would be complete without it.

"What nice guys....!" - by KarenB (West Sussex.UK)
Fascinating insight into the lives of two ordinary people who just happen to be extraordinary athletes. I really enjoyed finding out how they trained, how they approached the major competitions and how their relationship developed and enhanced their professional lives. Told with honesty and humour, I thought this was a great read

"Sailing before technology" - by K.E.C (Yorkshire England)
I was told "DON'T LOOK AT THE PHOTOS,UNTIL THE END",which was great advice.I even heard of someone cutting them out of the book. And if possible don't read the cover. So you can pretend not to know the ending.
The amazing thing about the book is the incredible ignorance, inability and naivity these gungho sailors possessed. But even expert advice was crushingly inadequate. Badly-equipped, unfinished or simply the wrong boats set off. Sailing has moved on a thousand years, since this voyage, even though the seas are just as lethal.
It is unbelievable that this single-handed round-the-world event was ever devised. It is more unbelieveable that anyone would be brave enough or foolish enough to attempt it.
It is fast-moving, and builds and builds. A difficult multi-strand document, pulled together expertly.

"Freddie Flintoff's Story - Outstanding Reading" - by father2 (England Europe)
I don't normally purchase books about stars who are in their prime but in the case of "Freddie" I made an exception. This book was read in just a few days and later on I plan to read it again and again. I have enjoyed every single page and nothing in this book was hard to read, heavy or boring. Andrew Flintoff has had some pretty difficult times, but through the honesty of true friends and by displaying a determination to reach the top in cricket he has been able to turn things around to the point that this summer he played a vital role in the glorious Ashes success over Australia. Though that Ashes success is only a few weeks old Andrew Flintoff details his thoughts and memories during those mesmerizing weeks This book also contains lots of beautiful colour photographs of Andrew ... full review

"Never disappoints" - by Dr. Bob Brooks Ph.d (Liverpool, England)
As ever Bumble writes in exactly the same forthright and irreverent manner in which he speaks - would you expect anything less ?

He recalls numerous memories and as usual relates many (often amusing) anecdotes.

Anyone who follows Bumble on television will love this book

"a top book by a top writer." - by alan gillies
this is written by one of the best sports writers of this or any other time. An in-depth, revealing, entertaining account of a controversy that just wont die, involving one of the greatest bowlers ever, one of the greatest batsmen ever{Bradman} and a riveting tale of tactics, courage and loyalty. Well worth a browse for not just cricket or sports fans but anyone who enjoys a good story about a life and events worth reading about.

"Gripping account." - by Kevin (York, United Kingdom)
Richard Moore has done a great job of telling the story of LeMond and Hinault. The story flows well considering the narrative moves between interviews with the two riders and other participants in those great years of cycling that were the 80s. Sean Kelly, Robert Millar,Andy Hampsten,Laurent Fignon to name some of the greats but the clash of character between Hinault and LeMond is the stuff of legend.
Don't think we'll ever see cycle racing like this again ,today it's all technical and ear radios. We need this passion.

"Its not about sport its about human spirit" - by B.N.Hancock
Didn't buy this through Amazon but I would encourage anyone reading this to do so.

This book gives an insight into the problems suffered by a variety of veterens from many countries. And it makes you realise what we all take for granted.

I had a laugh at the military humour and I had tears at the suffering of the veterens highlighted. But Invictus brought something out of them that you have to admire and respect.

Its not a book about Prince Harry but lets be clear - the Invictus Games would never had happened without him. There is noone better qualified to do it.

Will it last? On one hand I hope not, but whilst we have veterens that it helps and their families who also benefit from it, it hope it goes on until there are no more veterens.

In summary, its a snapshot of the lives of a group of veterens who ... full review

"Read it!" - by Kindle Customer
This book was recommended by a very close friend whose son , along with 3 others, are going to do this same challenge this year. I wanted to understand why someone would want to do it and what those Irish lads were going to be letting themselves in for!!!
Fantastic narration. Very inspiring. Hard to put down . I don't enjoy many books but I loved this one! I am in awe of those very strong women.
Now I can empathize with the Relentless Rowers this November!!
