"Brilliant value for money" - by Rachel Glassford
Bought this for my son as he's doing a photography course, excellent value for money, takes great pictures and the tripod, although a little small comes in very handy. Very pleased with the product and so is my son, would definately recommend for young budding photographers

"Brilliant camera but... major dust problems" - by boosmith
I've had my camera for a week now, and absolutely love it. I had been planning to use it as my walk around, as obviously my NIkon FX cameras are too heavy for this. However, and it is a big however, today I noticed dust on the sensor. There's no way of getting it off without returning it for repair and I suspect it would just happen again. I think it is probably sucked in through the collapsing lens opening and closing. A quick Google reveals I am not the only one with this problem.

It is with great reluctance that I am going to return this camera for a refund. I don't want to have to be doing spot removal on photos and it is likely the dust would only increase, so I am going to have to look for a different model.

It's a shame because I thought I had ... full review

"Believe the hype!" - by Nicholas
Sold without a battery charger does not make the camera a one star product!

Believe the hype. I have no time to go into specifics. Yet, I can tell you that all the YouTube and magazine reviews giving this camera the big thumbs up are not lying and, it seems I'm the only person writing a 'review' that actually owns the camera and is telling the truth.

The A7III is trading blows with cameras twice it's price. Sony glass to compliment the A7III's performance can be expensive, namely the G and G Master lenses. Aftermarket chargers and batteries are available on Amazon - batteries are not a real issue, nor is the menu system. It only took me a few minutes to learn the immediate basics - a couple of hours later I'd mastered the menus.

In short, results are fantastic. Pictures are incredible, tracking (especially eye tracking) and low light are truly ... full review

"Better than my previous GoPro Session experience" - by STP (Wettest Wales)
I wanted a simple wearable camera with good audio & video quality. In the past year I've tried various GoPro's (4 session & 5 session) but the battery life sucked & the audio wasn't as good as I expected or hoped.
As I have a Sony A6100 I thought I'd give the AS50 a go. I wasn't disappointed.

Video quality is as good as the Session (1080 / 60 ) using 1080 /60 X-AVCS. Audio is much better - almost no handling noise & in stereo. The battery life is much better. Nice to have a tripod thread.

Only real downside is audio is unusable with the camera in its waterproof cover but I knew that beforehand.

Simple menu & the Play Memories App works fine with no connection issues.

Overall very happy

"So far it's working smoothly and I'm really happy with the product" - by charliecat (London)
The card arrived the day after purchasing and was packaged well, well protected without using too much wasteful packaging. So far it's working smoothly and I'm really happy with the product. I find Sony memory cards the most reliable of the brands (having used different ones over the years) and this is a substantial card, not flimsy or fiddly. Fits perfectly in my camera and no complaints. Fuss and hassle free :-) I'd happily buy this item again and recommend the service.

"Great, feature packed camcorder!" - by Paul S.
I have only just started going through the functions of this camera. It has a lot of features packed away, but easily accessible in the menu. There are some functions via buttons and a quick and easy way by pressing and holding the manual button to assign the lens ring to control focus, or zoom, iris, gain etc.
The three inch led display is bright and sharp. The Oled tru-finder is also excellent. There are many presets and auto modes and manually controlled functions if you need to be especially creative. Sound seems quite good, but a let down is the mic picks up the vibrations of hand movements around the camera body, which slightly lets the camera down with quite a plasticky feel, although it looks the business.
The camera is quite big and lends itself to being operated on a sturdy tripod. The eye viewfinder works better this way as ... full review

"Impressive performance" - by John Boy (Bristol United Kingdom)
The FDR-AX700 is a 4K HDR camcorder aimed at serious amateurs who already shoot videos and, I would suspect, people like me who use stills cameras. The manual functions are a nod towards professional video, but it can be set to automatic. Video file formats are: XAVC S 4K, XAVC S HD and, AVCHD; photo mode is .jpeg. There are two slots for recording media – SD card or Memory Stick PRO Duo – for recording simultaneously or sequentially.

The 12x optical zoom lens with image stabilisation outputs to a 3.5 inch 1555k dot LCD touch screen and an OLED electronic viewfinder. A large rocker switch close to the hand grip controls the power zoom. Phase detection AF is selectable for speed of change, width/depth and, whether it locks on to a subject or not. Three levels of integral neutral density filters can be selected ... full review

"Sorry if this review is not very useful but is does seem to tick all the boxes ..." - by Eddie
I felt that this really was the business in 4k camcorders which I thought was at entry level to professional camcorders but unfortunately it was just too big for what I wanted, so I reluctantly returned it and bought the latest hand held Sony 4k camcorder. Sorry if this review is not very useful but is does seem to tick all the boxes for an enthusiastic camcorder geek!

"Genuine Pro-Duo Mark2." - by Dick Dastardly
Bought from Amazon; selected free delivery but still received the memory stick very quickly. It shows every sign of being the genuine article (proper packaging; holographic strips etc) and furthermore it comes with an adapter to fit normal memory readers. All in all - first class.

"Exactly what we were looking for" - by W&L
Exactly what we were looking for can now use our old Minolta lenses with new canon camera.

"Great Little Cam" - by Wild Indie (London)
If you want a great little camera that provides fantastic quality and good image control combined to a small discrete size, then you could do far worse. This is a great little camera.
Benefits from the 2 XLR inputs for excellent sound quality. White balance control is pretty good too. Chuck on a half decent InfraRed light and the night shoot is pretty good (the units own one is a bit weak).
1080i is good and the option of DVCAM is very useful.
Great in an underwater housing too as it's so controllable.

Not really quite a fully pro camera but very useful for a consumer, pro-summer, or pro.
I'd gone off Sony for a while until using this.. nice job.

"AMAZING. LIFE CHANGING." - by Jason C.
Literally changed my life! My camera was so slow at processing images, now I can do continuous shooting in RAW and take like 50 images and it's immediately read, and immediately viewable. I'm so happy! Definitely get this. I have the 260mb/s.

"Wow ! What a camera" - by Mr. D. J. Wilson (West Sussex, UK)
I bought my first "portable" video camera and separate video recorder in 1979. Yes that's correct before most people had even a home video. That said I have seen lots of changes since going from Beta, VHS, Video 8, Hi8, DV and now HDV. In all those years I have always wanted to have a video camera that is "just like the TV stations use". Today I think I have that camera, the Sony HDR-FX1. Sony calls it a "Handycam" which, if you are expecting something quite small, you'll find is a bit of a joke. People will notice this camera! It looks the business and should get you into most places without too much explaining that you are there to take "the" video.
The quality is first class. The controls are amazing and the excitement factor so large you just want to go off and make a movie like the ... full review
