"it was a very good book, however the author failed to say that ..." - by jodie casady
it was a very good book, however the author failed to say that people aged under 25 get in to most tourist places for free,i.e the louvre museum and the arc de triomphe ...also the way the timings were phrased for what times places opened was confusing

"Battle of the Paris Guidebooks!" - by Kenneth F. Mcara (Dundee, Scotland)
We've just returned from a wonderful trip to Paris and took this as a chance to `road test' four different guidebooks. These were:

* [[ASIN:140536873X DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Paris]] (Dorling Kindersley - Eyewitness Travel)
* Top 10 Paris (Dorling Kindersley - Eyewitness Travel),
* [[ASIN:111802754X Frommer's Paris Day by Day (Frommer's Day by Day - Pocket)]]
* Thomas Cook [[ASIN:1848482973 Paris (Pocket Guides)]].

As you would expect, the DK publications are beautifully produced in full colour and on good quality paper. The larger of these, Paris, is a hefty tome, weighing in at around 700g and running to some 450 pages. Nevertheless, it has a huge amount of useful information which is easily accessible and the best diagrams in any of the publications, including interesting cutaways of Notre Dame, Sacré Coeur and the Panthéon. Most information is organised by area, although it does include 8 guided ... full review

"A readable and interesting guide" - by Squirr-El (The metropolis, England.)
This 416-page book - the 15th (print) edition of January 2016 - is an interesting and readable (the two are not always found together) guide to the city of Paris, France. Unlike many guides, this is not a glossy booklet dotted with colourful photographs to make it look superficially attractive, but a (literally) rough guide in terms of comparative paper finishes, but well-designed and presented, with readable text, useful maps, and (well-chosen) photographs only where space allowed. The excellent design and layout means that you don’t need unnecessary spot illustrations to break up column after column of small-printed data.

The Contents are
P004: Introduction (Where to go, when to go, what to see etc.)

P020: Basics (travel, transport, & other touristy stuff)

The Guide (with eighteen sub-sections on the districts of the city, surroundings and day trips)
P042: The islands
P049: The Louvre
P062: The Champs-Elysees & ... full review

"Really good useful guide to Paris." - by Mr P J Madden
Really good useful guide to Paris. Guide to major attractions, and by area including guided walks through the areas. My first Lonely Planet guide and in future my first choice for guides. Big enough to have a really good level of detail without being too big to carry for the day.

"A readable and interesting guide" - by Squirr-El (The metropolis, England.)
This 208-page book - the February 2015 print edition - is an interesting and readable guide to Paris, France. This is a well-designed and presented guide, with useful maps. Being a pocket guide - approximately 7½” by 4” - it has a much more concentrated layout than the full-size Rough Guides, and is closer to a standard guide in layout, though still manages to keep much of its character.

The Contents are
P004: Introduction
P012: Best of Paris (things to see, places to shop, eat and drink
P034: Places (14 sections - each with a thorough description, and its own accompanying mini-guide on coloured paper to make it easier to find)
P164: Accommodation
P176: Essentials (getting there, getting around, Directory, events, phrase book, etc.)
P200: Index

I almost did not buy this based on other reviews indicating it was too small. Yes, it is small but it is a pocket guide book. This more than met my needs.

"A superb full colour guide to everything the fabulous city of Edinburgh has to offer both the casual and regular visitor." - by Closed
NOTE: I was contacted directly and was sent this product for free. I was asked to use it fully and to write an honest, unbiased review. My being given a free item in no way influenced my review of this product.

One of four travel guides Marco Polo Guides sent me to review, this 120 page pocket travel guide to Scotland’s capital city is superb. I wish I’d had this in my bag the very first time I went to visit Edinburgh, back when I still lived in England.

Edinburgh is so vast and what with the old town and the new town it can get pretty complicated finding all the marvellous places to visit when you go. There is so much to see and do and having read this guide from cover to cover over the past few weeks, its great to see that the travel guide ... full review

"I was disappointed by the lack of detailed info about the park ..." - by jt
This comprehensively covered the park itself and seemed up to date with 2016 info. However, I was disappointed by the lack of detailed info about the park hotels which I had really bought it for , as this information is more difficult to find out on line.
