"Fabulous Chic! Slightly different track listing to previous (orange sleeve) Up All Night" - by Secret Oktober (London, UK)
Fabulous music from Nile Rodgers and his Chic organisation. This album gives you the best of Chic along with many other tracks that Nile has worked his magic on with other artists, writing the track and producing it as an active guitar playing producer during the studio.

The original version of this Up All Night Greatest Hits compilation (the orange sleeve) only came out earlier in 2013 following Nile's success with Daft Punk's Get Lucky which sadly isn't included. This version (Red Sleeve, 'Disco edition') is out in time for Christmas, and just changes 5 of the tracks, the other 20 are the same.

IN comes: Like A Virgin (Madonna), Frankie (Sister Sledge), The Reflex (Duran Duran), Chic minimix (Megamix) and a fabulous live medley recorded at Glastonbury 2013 (which actually would be better if it was a DVD). If you want these buy the RED one.

OUT goes: Got To Love Somebody ... full review

"NILE RODGERS & CHIC LIVE...SAYS IT ALL !" - by pete clack
Saw Nile Rodgers & Chic at Glastonbury this year, they were simply amazing and should have been headliners on the Sunday night (no reflection on Mumford and Sons who were great), but this was the music that lifts the spirits moves the feet and sends everyone home dancing and happy. This set recoreded in Amsterdam gives us seventy four minutes of that famous Chic groove and funk that dominated the dance scene for so long and of course Nile Rodgers produced the Daft Punk single Get Happy this year that went to number one. He's produced them all Madonna, David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Sister Sledge,Diana Ross,Carly Simon and even Johnny Mathis plus of course Chic his own band. The roots of his music is the incredible groove laid down by the guitar, bass and drums the very soul of groove and funk, a base on which everything else is built, ... full review

"The ultimate CHIC experience for everyone!" - by Funk lover (UK)
This album has been a long time coming. Put simply, what we have here is most of the best CHIC Organization productions collected in their best mix and sounding the best they ever have on CD. For the casual fan, or any of the uninitiated who have learnt of CHIC due to Nile Rodgers' amazing work with Daft Punk, you have the most perfect collection to satisfy your needs. For the long standing fan there is more here for you than meets the eye.

Many of the Chic Organization tracks were pitched up when released on vinyl in the classic 1977-82 period covered here. But when they began to appear on CD in the early nineties, they were mastered at a slower speed and therefore did not sound the way that we had enjoyed them on vinyl. I had hoped that this would finally be rectified for the release of Savoire ... full review

"THESE ARE THE GOOD TIMES AND MUCH MORE!" - by Patrick Frierson
The Chic Organization boxset would come as somewhat of a surprise since the boxset treatment are typically reserved for legendary recording artists who are household names ( James Brown, The Temptations, Bee Gees, and Rod Stewart- just to name a few). Looking at Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards output, it would seem like their output is not deep enough to warrant a box set spanning four CD's - since one would assume that their songs under the Chic umbrella and a few for Sister Sledge represents their total output as producers and songwriters. Little do many people know, Nile and Nard was quietly expanding their musical reputation by extending their patented grooves to a number of artists outside of their successful run with Chic. While Nile and Nard influence may not be as widely regarded here in the States, their influence is massive overseas as proven by this boxset being ... full review

"Amazing performance" - by MR CHRIS BOWIE
One of my favourite music DVD's and stands up really well against blu-ray HD discs.

Although Bernard is not on this, the band still totally rock and remain very tight with Jerry Barnes doing a fantastic job on bass, Sylver as always stunning with amazing vocals and amazing stage presence, Jessica Barnes also gorgeous and seems to be really enjoying the performance, Omar Hakim on drums is fantastic to watch and listen to, with of course Nile leading the band brilliantly and doing a wonderful introduction to everyone in the band.

All the hits are here, played incredibly well, with the crowd really getting into the performance.

For a dvd, I was pleasantly surprised with the DTS sound quality, very tight and the treble reasonably crisp on the symbals/hi-hat etc...very good for compressed audio. The production is very well done, with great closeups and a real feeling of being there with the ... full review

"unstoppable funky beat" - by schumann_bg
Chic's concerts have a special vibe, perhaps surprisingly for disco, which is generally meant to be heard in clubs. They manage to get both - the perfection of the vocal nuances fitted exactly round the beat, and and the sense of live musicians playing with something flexible. Nile Rodgers is amazing; he has sustained the energy and freshness of his early work with Bernard Roberts better than anyone else, practically. You can sense how much he loves playing funk guitar, the rapport he has with the musicians, his generosity that flows to the band, the audience, through the music, it all sort of merges. In other words, it's the ideal live experience. The vocals of Silver Logan Sharp are spot-on, as is newcomer Jessica Wagner, and how elegant they are too ... all the band are dressed in white but all differently ... Geronimo on percussion is an unforgettable presence who apparently played with Jimmy Hendricks and seems to have lost none of his energy - there is a crazy edge that is brilliant. This Montreux concert has very good sound on the DVD. You get many of the hits, the less familiar (but very good) My Forbidden Lover and a medley of the Diana Ross/Sister Sledge numbers which come over very well, particularly I'm Coming Out, which here sounds slightly different from what you know ... The songs are so good they are enriched by existing in different versions, like a lot of Motown hits. It's very reassuring to know that Chic continue to this day to do these amazing gigs.
