"Fantastic cheap glass" - by james hazlegreaves
Bought this for my d3300 about 3 months after buying the body. It arrived before the expected delivery day which Is a bonus.

Af works perfectly on the camera and it's great for portraits (humans and animals) I've even used it to shoot down at my local CrossFit gym getting some fantastic shots.

A great purchase after the kit lens.

"Great purchase" - by Amazon Customer
After much deliberation I decided to purchase this lens to use on my D3300. It compliments my camera well and is a welcome addition to my 18-55mm lens that came with my camera. Crystal clear photos every time and the zoom quality is great with no distortion at 200mm. So glad i brought this and I highly recommend to anyone looking to take photos of more than just close up images

"Brilliant lens" - by Claire c
Brilliant lens seeing other reviews I gave it chance as I'm on a budget and a beginner lovely lens fits my cannon 1200d took me a while to figure it out to use it other reviews say when it's on the 300mm it's blurry if you put it on macro it's fine with no problems

"Good Nikon kit lens" - by Eng
Bought as a refurbished item, the lens was in very good conditions. This is obviously a kit and not a top end lens but at £124 it gives good quality images that will be acceptable to most people, I would imagine if photos were going to be enlarged to greater that 12" x 8" you would be better looking for a better quality lens.
But you get what you pay for and at this price I think the item is good value for money.

"The Wedding Photographers Choice Of Lens" - by C. Erroch
It's a good lens. Very light and comfortable on my Nikon D500. I can shoot a full wedding with just this lens and that saves me from carrying additional lenses. If you shoot weddings then this is a great buy and also get the 85mm F1.8 for bridal portraits.

"Decent telephoto lens with a good range" - by Dr. Kevin Hammond (Fife, Scotland)
For the money, this is a very good lens. It hasn't yet made me smile as much as some of my other lenses (e.g. the Nikon 10-24 or the 18-140) but it seems generally competent. I bought it to give me a long telephoto with vibration reduction capability (I also have the 70-300G, but this is only usable on the more upmarket Nikon bodies, and has no VR, which means it can only be used in reasonably bright light). I've mainly used this on a D7000 but also tested it on a D40. The 55mm wide end does seem more useful than the 70mm on my other telephoto. I took this plus the 10-24 (which is great for landscapes) on a short country walk last weekend and not missed the mid range. I don't think I could have done that with the 70-300. ... full review

"Nikon AF-S DX 18-300" - by James Craig (Belfast)
I have been using the Tamron version which I found to be excellent. This is just that little bit better!
Nikon products are excellent and this is no different. Well made, sturdy feel and - excellent pictures. A series of lenses in one.

"I read all the articles I could find on this lens and all seemed very happy with the lens" - by mallacai
I have the tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD which i've used for the past 18 month's and I found that up to 200mm it was clear and crisp but above that it became very soft and stopping down to f10 was the only way of getting a crisp shot, I read all the articles I could find on this lens and all seemed very happy with the lens, it arrived today but by the time I got home the light was starting to go so I took a few shots of specific areas on the mountain behind my house as it's somewhere i'd photographed in all conditions with the tamron, f6.3 at 300mm gave me a shot way better than the tamron at f10, in fact it's the sharpest shot i've ever got with any lens on the mountain, it does have a plastic mount but that ... full review

Fantastic lens. Very good for general shots, and of course macro (although you do need to get very very close to the subject)

"Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G lens for my D5100" - by TeaBum
I bought this lens form my Nikon D5100. Did a bit of research and lots of thinking, before deciding to go for it.
And I'm really loving this lens! Very sharp through all the picture, fast prime lens. Actually, since I bought it, I mainly keep photographing with it and enjoying a little more creative approach without using the zoom.

Compared to my usual Nikkor 18-70 f3.5-4.5G ED zoom lens the sharpness and the low light speed is just amazing. I've not done much macro photos with it as yet, because I bought it for both ... a bit of macro/close up shoots and also as equivalent to 60mm (on old film cameras) for outdoor/urban/street and bit of portrait photography. Hopefully will find some time soon to post a few photos on my web - [teabum.eu] - for those interested to see.

Generally speaking, I think it's better option then 35mm f1.8 or ... full review

"AWESOME, JUST AWESOME" - by Worldpix
After reading the great reviews about this lens I decided that it would be a lens that I should carry around just in case. However, after receiving it and testing on various types of shooting opertunities, including macro, I am of the mind that it's about time I went back to good old days of shooting primarily with the standard lens on my D90.

On digital Nikons, unless they are full frame, there is of course the 1.4 increase in focal length, making this lens an effective 70mm, which way back when would have been thought of as a short telephoto and used for portrait pictures.

The lens is indeed light, but not lightweight, in that is one of the most sharpest lens I have ever used. In the 60's Zuiko (Olympus) took some beating and even Russian lenses were a match for the best - Leica. This lens, especially if used ... full review

"What an amazing lens!!!" - by Victor
Received this lens today and what an amazing lens: On my D7000 this lens is sharp at F3.5 and very sharp when stopped down to F5, the quality of the macro images has to be seen to be believed, and the VR is great for those hand held shots. Another good thing is that one can use this lens for portraits, true it's not an F2.8 lens, but at F3.5 the difference is small as far as the bokeh is concerned. I'm really glad that I got this lens and it doesn't cost the Earth!

"Great little lens" - by julia clark (Scotland)
A brilliant lens for a starter like myself. Takes great photos. I bought it for my Nikon D40 which is an old camera now but it fits and it works.
