"Great alternative" - by Jules (England)
Bought a new PC at the end of August, 2016. And thought this would be an excellent time to experiment with an alternative to a sound card, that i always hear about (no pun intended). So, with a little searching on Google, i came across this FiiO E10K which received good reviews & was an AMP+DAC in one small package. Here's how it went...

Contents:
1x FiiO E10K.
1x Micro USB cable.
1x Strip of 6 feet with sticky backing.
1x Small user guide.

Likes:
+Nice loud, clear, crisp audio experience.
+Simple plug & play.
+Volume , bass & gain options at your fingertips.
+Compact, neat looking little device with blue LED to indicate activation.

Considerations:
-You will want good quality headphones to make the most use of it (i have an old pair of Sennheiser PC 360's).
-Doesn't have all the little audio details, software & tweaking a sound card offers.
-The Micro USB cable is pretty short.
-Use onboard for microphone.

In conclusion, i ... full review

"this is awesome. Distorted tone is ace and just what I ..." - by Seegar (Shrewsbury, Shropshire United Kingdom)
There were a few negatives written about this and I always read them before doing anything. Ignore them, this is awesome. Distorted tone is ace and just what I like. Classic rock tone. Works great.

"Provides a nice portable headphone amp to get the most out of ..." - by L. Bates
Provides a nice portable headphone amp to get the most out of sources like a phone or media player that might not drive less sensitive headphones too well. Battery life is better than a lot of sources but there's no real indication until it dies. Comes with a couple of silicone pads and rubber loops to stack with your audio source while on the move. The A3 feels robust despite being fairly light, mine just gets thrown in whatever pocket is handy with whatever else is in there and hasn't really got a mark on it.

"Vox amplug 2 AC30. Wow!" - by Patrick Mckeown
Can't quite believe the sound quality of this little headphone amp, it's just like the real thing. The tones I'm getting from my Strat are sublime, I can't put it down now I can play away in the living room. I have Boss ME80 that has a AC30 pre-amp but this is much better, it must be the analogue circuitry, no digital mimicry. The effects are a nice touch even if a little bit fiddly to operate but you soon get used to it.
One thing to remember though, is that this is an amplifier so the quality of the output is made relevant by the quality of the headphones you use. You don't need a expensive set, just a half decent set of over ear phones work great.

"Zero noise from this tidy device. Great!" - by Leon
Very nice ultra mini mixer headphone amp. Zero noise from this tidy device.

Very very happy with it for the price. Also provides a great oomph for my large headphones without losing stability.

Comes with UK mains PSU (purchased in UK - I suppose it will be region specific. Buy in USA, would come with USA plug I guess.).

Nice quality PSU and device all round.

"Good for the amateur" - by Mike (Lancashire, UK)
After scoping out some other units I decided to buy this even with the negative reviews, as the band I'm in has had no problems with Behringer gear before.
After some experimenting with the unit, I discovered that the best way to use it is to switch it directly to mono - otherwise if you use a mono guitar lead like I do all you'll get is sound from one earphone. Another tip is not to use the monitor output from you desk/amp, just go straight for a direct signal from the PA (I run my lead straight from the back of a spare jack port on the back of the sub).
From a drummers point of view, this is a great tool. To protect my hearing I usually use earplugs, but these can muddy the sounds and block important things such as the vocals. With the headphone amp however, I use ... full review

"Excellent little tool" - by Mr. Jan A. Henkins (Surrey, England)
Excellent little tool! I use it for music track mixing while on the go, because you can switch off bass boost. It also features a second headphone socket, which is a boon when you want to collaborate during a mixing session.

"Very good dac, works fine with OnePlus 3t Android phone" - by Bart Ducheyne
First off all I'm very impressed by this AMP/DAC!

On the PC I follewed the Foobar guide on the fiio website and was simple to setup for dsp playback, all the rest just works out of the box after installing the drivers.
Mac was even easier, just a bit stupid there is only a payed app to play dsf/dsp files, 'Decibel'

I used the app "DAC Fix for LG V10" this makes it possible to use your dac system wide, tested with: Deezer, Youtube, Quboz, Tidal, ... its your system sound sow you will also get notifications sounds etc.

I'm using the DAC: Fiio Q1 mark ii
With my OnePlus 3T(Android 8.0.0, OxygenOS 5.0.1)
Using a "USB Type-c to USB 3.1 converter" and the provided MicroUSB - USB-A cable.
Headphones: Sennheiser HD598 en HD598CS, they sound better then I ever heard and have a special soundcard in desktop, but this is better!

Only make sure if you have ... full review

"Adds warmth and realism to your music" - by Mr. Simon Howard (Bedfordshire)
I agonised for months on whether to buy a dedicated headphone amp costing upwards of £300, else try one of the inexpensive desktop Chinese valve amps. These seemed so cheap that they couldn't be that great, could they? I have a separate DAC/AMP which cost about 10 times the amount of this amp, but although it really digs up the detail and separates the instruments, I found it to be clinical on much of the music I listened to.

I decided that for £35-£100 I would take a chance an see whether one of these amps would solve my problem. I have had this amp for a week and now it has started to shine. I chose this amp out of the many on here and for £40 you can't go wrong.

It does take around 10 - 20 hours of listening to really shine but has been ... full review

"Novelty headphones system for bass guitar" - by Iota
A fun interface to allow you to play bass through your headphones - just like a miniature VOX amp.
And you can get it to generate a rhythm pattern to play along with.
But it generates a lot of hiss that makes your ears ring with tinnitus after a long practice session.
I stopped using it because for practice purposes it seemed better to simply play the bass unamplified, which comes out like a very quiet acoustical mode, and doesn't hurt your ears or other peoples.

"Good for the price" - by TELL THE TRUTH (Long Eaton, Nottingham)
For its price this little headphones amp is pretty good.
Ive tried it through the headphones socket and the 30 pin line out on my ipod classic.
I have Bang & Oufsen, Bose and Beats Headphones. having the ipod running Rockbox you get much more of a choice with the equaliser, so you can get it just right for your needs. The unit itself seems well made and is quite heavy, this makes it feel like a wuality bit of kit.

"Really good sound for such a cheap price!" - by AmazingD
Very good dac/amp! If you want to upgrade from integrated audio sound this is one of the best budget options in the market. You will get digital/analog converter, sound card and headphones amplifier in one box. Device design is amazing with only headphones jack in the front, very well built metallic enclosure and a lot of sound connecting options in the back. Super bright sound, clear low and high frequency ranges. With my Senheiser HD555 headphones I felt huge difference when I switched from notebook's sound to this device. I used high quality flac files to compare and I am really surprised how sound changed. Amp has lots of power and I really use only 1/3 of its volume range, so if you have headphones with bigger impedance this device will drive your cans easy I think. I searched a lot and I did not find for this price any ... full review
