"It is so much better than the old model - one charge lasts for ..." - by P Hansen
It is so much better than the old model - one charge lasts for more than a week. I can play two rounds of golf with it and it loses less than half the capacity. It takes some getting used to because it is so different from their older models. I like the ability to move the pin around the green..

"Strap buckle sides are super sharp??!" - by R. Haigh (UK)
Watch is amazing - a real step up from the 3 in terms of software and speed. However, the standard strap is bad. The buckle sides are super sharp. When you wear it they cut into your wrists. If you catch them pulling on a coat or jumper it hurts. Am contacting Garmin to see if this is a batch issue.

"Great golf GPS watch with Fitness extras" - by Ross Noonan
Fantastic watch that does everything I want it to.

Sure there's others with bigger, colour screens but I personally don't like wearing a chunky watch so this band style was perfect.

It also monitors your heart rate and sleep, the Garmin smart phone app is great that goes with it and its also compatible with the Garmin Truswing which I hope to buy soon.

"Foretrex 301 GPS" - by Graham
I had previously had two Foretrex 201 watches and really liked the concept of being able to be active with a GPS and not have to hold it while climbing, walking rambling etc. I was therefore disappointed that Garmin no longer make the 201.

I upgraded to the 301 and find it slightly more intuitive to use. The model finds the sat nav quicker than the 201 and holds much more information.

Overall the biggest difference is that the 301 uses batterys rather than holding a charge from the mains. Batterys are more expensive but for a weekend away, a long trek or camping when it is difficult to get a mains supply being able to carry some spare batterys does have my vote - just.

"Generally happy, could do with better software" - by Stewart W
Been using the Garmin for several months now. Here is my summary

Look: love the look of this watch (i’m not a fan of square watches). Nice touches like customisable clock faces.

Battery Life: Very reasonable. Charge maybe once every 5 days for 20mins. I’m using the GPS once per day for 30-45 mins

Interface on watch: Touch screen works well. Responsive and back light is over bright if anything. I use on 10%. The one button and touch works well for navigating etc

Strap: I changed mine for a ceramic version very quickly. I find the supplied watch strap irritated my skin.

App: This is where Garmin need to put some work in. Generally the functions are all there for this range of watch, but the app could be more customisable and user friendly. I find myself wanting to dive deeper into the information provided and have more done with the data.

Detailed Review:
I had an Approach S1 before this, which was a great watch but didn't have layup, hazard or pin views and, after about 4 years of solid use, and is now exhibiting a measuring error of about 10-15 yds. I’m not sure why, perhaps some water got in, but after 4 years of pretty much weekly use I can’t complain - it’s been a great watch. In comparison the G10 is about £10-£15 dearer, but I think well worth the extra given the additional features.

The G10 comes provided with a printed quick start manual, but this only gives you the main pointers for using the device. The menus ... full review
