"Doctor Blake consistently good." - by Leslie Sanders
I have been impressed with the storylines as they are carefully done so it is possible to follow the plot and sometimes spot the odd clues!
The acting is good and all the characters interesting and believable.
All in all an enjoyable experience.

"... TV is a complete mystery - it is much better than most offerings" - by Carole Goodings
Why this is not on prime time UK TV is a complete mystery - it is much better than most offerings.

"Expensive but good" - by msb
Feature length episode (105 mins) of same standard as previous series. It was a bit expensive though for what it is. There was not much of a description provided so I bought it in the hope it would be worth the cost.

"An admirably restrained series with strong plots and performances." - by Adrian Drew (UK)
A quite low budget but evocative Australian series quite similar to Foyle's War, which is well written and acted. Craig McLachlan, now almost 50, demonstrates his versatility and is supported by a solid cast. The plots, resonant with social and cultural period concerns are well developed over each 50 minute episode and provide an interesting additional dimension to the "murder mystery" at its core. Admirably restrained in its use of gore and violence this DVD set containing 10 episodes is recommended.

"Interesting Australian mysteries" - by T. Dunas (Sacramento, Ca USA)
This entire series is very well made. From the scripts to the acting and production. As an American I appreciate that these are Australian and the perspectives thereof. Foul language is minimal and there doesn't appear to be a driving theme of any obvious agenda being promoted thus far in this series.

"The Best So Far" - by Mary E. Babich (Norman, Ok. United States)
Endeavour is my favorite detective series ever. The writing is great with the story lines in each episode completely different from each other.which
is especially evident in series 5. The acting is superb such that it seems to anyone watching that this isn't fiction at all. The actors are living their
parts. In my opinion, series 5 is the best so far for a lot of reasons. Who could have foreseen Morse sharing a flat with Strange? Morse is more
"prickly" than ever with people but yet seems to have more affairs with the ladies. We even see him smoking in one episode! The story lines are
very timely in that they include racial discrimination, sexual harassment, and immigration problems. One unusual thing about this series is that the
same main "crook" appears throughout the six episodes, and one really nice thing is that we get ... full review

"This series rivals the best! Maybe is the best!" - by Jane Vaughan (Ontario, Canada)
Love it, love it, love it! Touch of comedy with memorable characters, eccentricities and the dastardly deed! I wish they were able to make more but, all I can say is what a fantastic series.

"Most enjoyable, and far more interesting than the play ..." - by Peter Shepherd
Most enjoyable, and far more interesting than the play. I once set out to find all those things mentioned in the story while I was in the Hebrides. There is an island called (or was) Ultima Thule which is so isolated that it is a paradise in itself. Strangely I also found them in North Wales

"Jack Higgins' Without Mercy" - by D. S. Jones
Very good, it kept U suspense until the last few pages. Year's ago, I used to read about the experiences he got up to for the I. R. A.,
now he does the same thing. Only it's sanctioned by the British government. D. S. JonesJack

"By a water fall I'm calling Cthulhu" - by bernie (xyzzy)
For some reason this critter is a H.P. Lovecraft classic. I have ordered the 2005 movie. I kept waiting for the action and somehow it ended before it started. I did not realize how meaningful the title was until the end where I said "Oh wow now I understand.

After Francis Wayland Thurston (a professor at Brown University), shuffles off this moral coil he leaves papers. His great-nephew an anthropologist who narrates the story is shocked to find France Wayland's research into what started out as a spooky dream to find that he uncovers the cabal of Cthulhu worshipers. But who or what is Cthulhu. We travel with the narrator as he pieces together what Francis was suspecting. When Cthulhu calls we may even have to confront him/it ourselves.
