"Wish You Were Here?"
M. J. Saxton
(Dewsbury, West Yorkshire United Kingdom)
A pleasure to read. This book captures the atmosphere and style of the 50s Italian movies that are in the narrative. A film star, a rich countess, and a woman with a secret, not to mention a down-on-his-luck journalist, a profiteer, a director and a photographer. What better cast could you ask for.
Add in an encounter at a bohemian society party, a doomed affair (or is it?) and the threat of violence. This book has a brilliant mix of ingredients that, with the skill of Lucy Foley's writing, create a story that will intrigue and play on the emotions.
There feels to be a wash of Technicolor alongside a few black and white vignettes in the yacht journey along the Italian coast to Cannes.
Well worth losing yourself in.
