The best laptop I've ever owned. Now this is not to call myself a connoisseur of laptops or anything as this is the third laptop I've owned, but it is certainly the fastest, thinnest and lightest I've ever had, and it works a treat. I've been using it every day for hours. The gold keys, lettering and trim against the dark blue colour of the laptop looks great. The starting up, restarting and shutdown are very quick, seriously, a minute or two. I can log into my windows account with fingerprint recognition. The sound is very good so I don't need to turn the volume high to hear my music. Video and films download quickly. The display is very bright and clear as it is full HD. I've seen on the manufacturer's website that this particular laptop has won over 100 awards. I can see why!
Purchased this two days ago after reading tonnes of reviews and comparing it to the Macbook.. Here's my review:
PROs: - Very fast, the 7th gen i5 I got is fast for anything I throw at it. Although I don't play games... :) - Silent: sure, it will make some noise when you install programs or run very demanding tasks, just like any other laptop. But most of the time it's quiet, you can only hear the fan if you pay close attention and lean forward to it. Like so many people do, please do not compare it to the silent MacBook, that one has no fan and runs a m3 processor... ;) - Very nice colours on the display, good brightness. I haven't used it on maximum brightness so far as I find it's too much, however, you might need it outdoors. - Royal blue: very unique colour for a laptop and matched with the gold markings looks very premium. - Battery life: too early to tell, but so far I scored an average of 7 hours which I find more than enough. - Keyboard: much better than the one on Macbook, with longer travel distance. Doesn't feel as mushy as reviewers claim ;) - Package: comes with a good looking pouch to protect it whilst travelling, however there are better options in the market which could protect more. Also comes with a nice USB-C adapter: HDMI, USB - A, and charging port. (you need to dig deeper into the box as it is layered). - Really good and powerful speakers!
CONs: - Slightly overheating under heavier tasks. But runs cool whilst playing QHD videos which is nice :) - The touchpad is not good enough: it's a bit hard to press and it's not uniform: for example, you can click easier on the bottom half and clicking becomes very strange on the upper half (close to the finger print sensor clicking is impossible). - Magnet for fingerprints, needs cleaning every day.. - One other big issue (for me personally): I cannot figure out how to enable Fn key by default. What I mean is this: when I want to adjust volume, I should just press the volume key like on MacBooks, not the Fn+Volume key combo. (and when I want to press F5 I should ideally press Fn+F5 not just F5) ---- (if anyone knows a fix for this please reply, I'm desperate :) )
