Destined for the local tip
21 February 2018
I'm afraid Hewlett Packard are developing a reputation in this household for unreliable products and poor support. My previous HP printer had to be binned after it developed a software fault that resulted in it deciding that it had a paper jam even when it didn't and my new Envy 5540 - barely five weeks old - is already in danger of heading to the local tip. Software problems - again - result in it deciding every so often to go offline; when subject to the HP Print-and-Scan doctor I am told that the problem is a lack of paper. The fact it is capable of printing a test page doesn't alter this analysis.
Couple the frustration this cause with HP's over-complicated support system, which appears to think I would do better discussing my problems with other users rather than directly with the manufacturer or should open a Twitter account in order to communicate with them and you have a recipe for high blood pressure. Yes, the printer is still under guarantee. How you exercise this remains a mystery.
If only HP put as much effort into getting their products right and supporting them as they do to selling you endless ink! Now, if I wanted that I'd have no problems apparently...
