A truly incredible speaker, high-end quality, low-end price. But...

This is a really incredible speaker. I only found out about it because I saw it in Currys, and playing it next to the Bose it was honestly not much between the two and the Bose is three times the price. So I took a punt on it and sat it next to my original Kitsound Hive which I've had for many years and I thought was a top quality product. A quick comparison test between the two using Spotify and one bluetooth source to switch between the two - and the Jam HM speaker made the Hive sound like tinny phone speakers.
The clarity, sound quality and bass shone through and the build quality feels exceptional, it has a great weight to it and lovely finish. The battery life is not as good but it would be more than adequate at a party for example and it's rare that you wouldn't be able to charge it if you needed to. I actually use this as a laptop speaker and so it gets used for hours on end every day, and I usually find myself charging it every 2-3 days. Others have made complaints about irritating voice overs but I've not experienced any of this, it uses a loud tone to tell you it's turning on/off, ready to connect, and connected/disconnected.
This is an incredible speaker and in my opinion, easily the best value for money giving high end sound but with a reasonable price tag. Definitely worth trying before buying something like the Bose and also worth trying if considering a cheaper speaker from another brand because this is likely to take your money after hearing it, regardless of your initial budget.
I've had this speaker for about 6 months now. I had to send the first one back as the raspy crackiling that happens at low to medium volumes became too much to bear. I've since been sent another one, and it does the same thing. Only this time, two of the buttons are damaged on the top. The battery life is also below average. It's a shame because this does let it down, and it would otherwise be hands-down the best portable speaker on the market, especially given the price. I've dropped a star because of this.
The speaker still struggles at low volumes. The second one of these seems to charge faster than the first one I had but doesn't seem to last any longer. I think I'm expecting too much from the battery life since I use it at my desk as a laptop speaker but tend to have music playing from it throughout most of the day. The battery life isn't really a problem but the distortion really is a dampener on what is otherwise an UNBELIEVABLE speaker. If a second version of this came out with this fix, and slightly better battery life, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
The dodgy buttons on my replacement speaker finally caused some issues with turning the device off, and so it was replaced again, this being my third one of these speakers. It's strange way of looking at it, but the fact that I've had three of these and not wanted them to be refunded shows how much I actually like them. They suffer with distortion at low volume (weird, I know) but otherwise are fantastic speakers.
