Paying the extra goes a long way, be the good sibling ;)
9 April 2018
My sister bought herself a cheap bed frame that came with a hybrid spring/foam mattress a few months ago. Unfortunately, the mattress is utter garbage and gives both her and her partner incredibly sore backs. But after reading people's reviews on Amazon for this mattress topper she decided to give it a go and opted for the plain foam topper, without a sheet. Being the kind, incredible and modest brother that I am, I chose to bump her up to the topper with the cover, so here is an honest review for the topper with a cover and whether it's worth the extra £20...
In short, yeah, the extra definitely seems to be worth it.
The package arrives with the topper folded in half lengthways and then rolled up into cylinder roughly 20cm in diameter and 1-1.5m long (don't quote me on the measurements, they're just a guess). The whole thing feels like it weighs around 5kg rolled up. After unpacking it and leaving it to rise for a couple of hours neither of us noticed any foul odours or chemical smells that other reviewers have complained about. Then again, almost all of them were for the cheaper topper without a cover. I'm not saying the cover is the answer to the problem, but perhaps there's a difference in the manufacturing process between the two that allows the foam time to dissipate any unpleasant smells before being packaged. Either way, this one smelled fine and she had the best night's sleep she's had in months the first time she used it.
- Compact delivery.
- Easy to carry.
- Easy to open up and air out to rise.
- Ready to go within a couple of hours.
- No noticeably unpleasant odours.
- Reasonable value for money.
- The cover unzips for easier cleaning
- Very soft and comfortable.
Not-so good points:
- £20 is a bit of a jump for a cover.
If you are after a soft, value-for-money mattress topper to improve your night's sleep, give this one with a cover a go. For a harder topper, try Eve or Simba as they are likely to be a lot firmer.
