A good late-night listen, with a glass of decent Scotch. Goldblum's obvious rapport with his Mildred Snitzer orchestra shines through, and he's got great jazz chops. Guest singers include the redoubtable Imelda May, beloved of Sir Terry Wogan, and the comedian Sarah Silverman- who similarly has a great jazz style. Some very pleasant surprises on this album. Apparently Mildred Snitzer was a friend of his parents, and he liked the name!
Saw Geoff Golblum on the Graham Norton Show. What a talented man Geoff is and so charismatic. This album is a warm hug of music and you feel like you're sat in the live audience whilst they're playing. Very smooth, easy on the ears. When's the next album? I recommend this album for all jazz listeners and those who, like me, sit on the fence of this genre. Wonderful.
If you like Jazz, you'll love this. Ideal for the long winter evenings by the fire, with a glass of wine and just chilling out. Jeff Goldblum and the Orchestra are just superb, if streamed on high speed Internet, the sound quality is breathtaking. You feel like they're playing in your living room. A worthwhile addition to any music collection. Five star!
Really enjoyable album, entertaining and comical at times as Jeff vocals are present in the back ground Featured guests are awesome especially Imelda May!
Excellent. We bought it on vinyl, even better although we didn't realise it was 45rpm not 33rpm! D'oh! Sounds great at the correct speed. Imelda May makes an excellent contribution. My husband loves it but thinks it would have been better as a studio recording. We listened to it again last night and enjoyed every minute.
Easy listening jazz with outstanding trumpet from Till Bronner. Three lady singers: Haley Reinhart, Sarah Silverman and the excellent Imelda May. Good sound quality from the two 45rpm vinyls. Only downside is the Sarah Silverman track; I found her voice a bit nasal and the track is preceded by an over-long introduction which may have been funny at the time.
Never would have thought Jeff Goldbum would cut a CD of his Jazz piano playing. Excellent fresh take on some Jazzy classics set against a background of excellent live bar atmosphere and banter with the audience. The live singers also rip it up! Hope a follow up makes it way to market!
Nothing jurasic about this album. Jeff Goldblum brings nothing but tallent to match his own at the keuboard. Haley Reinhart, Imeldelda May, Sarah Siverman plus the lush sound of Till Broneer. You have got to be a dinosaur not to love this record. Fingers crossed there is a DVD and another album to follow.
I bought this for my mum for Christmas so I can’t comment on her behalf, however I’ve listened to the album and it’s great. Jazzy, smooth and I feel like I’m sitting in a low-lit jazz club in New York sipping a martini. Oh and it’s Jeff Goldblum. Who doesn’t love Jeff Goldblum?!
