I had their first L, P. when it first came out so it brings back wonderful memories, didn’t know much about the 2nd & 3rd at the time but enjoying them now! The 3rd disc is amazing & listening to that you’ll wonder why they never had more hits! I love the Phil Spector sound & Sonny uses it his best advantage! A great 3 CD set full of music! I’m digging out my bell bottoms in celebration! Michael Jones Eastbourne Marina

Although Sonny and Cher, a singing duo that were the perfect icons for their generation went onto record two more albums in the early Seventies, it's the work that came from their hit-making heyday of the Sixties that is the most prized amongst fans. This superb new collection from BGO Records is an absolute treat, a three CD set containing the couple's first three studio albums ('Look At Us', 'The Wondrous World of Sonny & Cher' and 'In Case You're in Love') and and a bonus disc of singles of which some of the B sides are very rare indeed.
An appreciator of Sixties music will enjoy hearing Sonny and Cher's wonderful renditions of many contemporary hits which were common place on those glorious first LPs. Although the pair were great together and Sonny, possessor of a distinctive voice as well as having considerable songwriting talents, I have to say that it's the vocals of Cher which I find the most appealing. This young girl was very special from the very start as evidenced on key tracks like 'Unchained Melody', in which Cher sings solo and really delivers.
Each of these hit albums were produced by Sonny himself and recorded for the Atco label. Scattered around this impressive anthology are all the songs that made Sonny and Cher household names including the evergreen hit 'I Got You Babe' which became their signature tune, 'Baby Don't Go' and 'The Beat Goes On'. This is therefore just as strong as any previous collection of the band's hits before it, but with the inclusion of all the album tracks as well as the rarities, it manages to provide a much greater overview of the large body of work.
The sound quality on this release is excellent, the arrangements to these classic pop songs still sound just as good in 2019, and the material mostly holds up very well. The packaging of the collection is attractive with archive photographs in the inside lays and a comprehensive booklet containing informative liner notes. This really is a definitive overview of Sonny and Cher in the Sixties.
