GPS is useless, activity monitor wildly inaccurate
on 22 July 2018
Had this for a little over 2 weeks now and used several times.
FIRST: First use was great - picked up GPS almost immediately (central London) and was happy with how simple it was to use. But in my neighbourhood (Zone 2/3, phone GPS has no problem), it takes anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes to pick up GPS which is basically useless.
SECOND: I did not buy this for the activity tracker but I decided to check it out. First of all, this thing seriously overestimates steps taken (decrease it by 20-50% and maybe you get something more accurate) and wildly overestimates caloric burn, by a factor of anywhere from 20-100. For example, I spent a few hours at a shopping mall with plenty of breaks and it told me I had burned several hundred calories and taken more than 7000 steps. I'm lucky to clock 100 calories and 5000 steps when doing a fast walk/jog for 2.5 miles.
THIRD: No way (that I know of) to turn off GPS search without turning off the watch. The last charge on my watch didn't hold, presumably because it spent the charge searching for GPS which I did not want.
