buy extra batteries.

The camera gets good shots and the optical stabilization is amazing. I have used this suction mounted to my windscreen for vlogging and the vibrations, bangs and shakes are smoothed away. The equivalent GoPro footage was unuseable.
Getting the microSD card in is fiddly - mainly because Sony keep trying to flog their obsolete proprietry memory card and the card slot has been tweaked to accept both card types. It takes several tries to get it in and for the camera to recognise it. Not too much of a problem if you have a single high capacity card that stays in and not a collection of smaller cards.
The captive USB cable is a concern. I guess it's only slightly more susceptable to breaking than a fragile micro usb socket. Just be careful with it.
The tripod screw thread is right at the front of the camera, so mini tripods are a no-no.
My biggest gripe is that battery life is about an hour on HQ shooting, so barely enough to fill 32GB. The camera will not shoot and charge at the same time, so pack extra batteries and a charger. Sony built the need for extra batteries into this device, sodon't buy Sony batteries. Get a good rated compatible set.
