Can't really say I know Youssoupha before this release, yes he was the type of guy I'd see on compilations, and didn't really take much notice of, but that's probably more my loss than anyone else's - this is probably his most thought-provoking album to date, and has a huge amount of decent tracks.
Not only does Youssoupha have a lot of style, he's genre hopping here, you'll find a bit of dubstep (La Vie Est Belle), to Latin rhythm (Les Disques De Mon Père) and some more commercial beats as well as some laid back funk (L'enfer c'est les autres). His lyrics are very conscience - including some commentary on his case against a journalist who accused him of attacking him (Menace De Mort) and commentaries on how others see the world. There's also a rather strong track about his ex girlfriends who are just after his money and fame with Tout L'amour Du Monde, and his hopes that we'll be more careful in Viens.
This is probably going to be the best album of 2012, as it is so fresh and the lyrics are interesting, but then again what did we expect from such a character who has a Masters - I can only imagine how good he is in concert!
There's a bonus DVD with this which features live material, making this a better buy than the usual edition.
Well worth checking out, it's more much fresh than some of the junk we hear nowadays across the world.
