From The Hurting To Elemental...With The Odd B-side.
3 September 2012
There have been more than a dozen Tears For Fears collections released since they burst on to the world music scene with their now classic debut album "The Hurting". This collection is a great place for the budget minded familiar with all those big hits TFF had through the 80's but might want a little more than just the singles.
Mad World: The Collection, covers the bands career from their debut album up to the fourth album "Elemental", released in 1993 and pretty much a Roland Orzabal solo album. There's even a nice selection of some of their single b-sides (including the hard to find "We Are Broken") which may not be to everyone's liking but give you an idea of just how alternative these guys were before they hit the mainstream. For fans there's a few tracks from the later 1992-93 recordings that have been hard to find as most would've originally appeared as vinyl b-sides or extra tracks on cd singles. Nice to have some rare tracks and the mastering is pretty good too. So while it's not exactly a greatest hits collection all the big ones ARE here in their full length album versions for the most part. For the price of admission, even the most casual of fans would be Head Over Heels!
