13th May 1983 - 30 April 2007 An amazing musical talent and warm, genuine and brave soul took flight too soon! God bless
This posthumous album, 'La voix d'un ange' was released a month and a half after Gregory's death by his record company Universal Music Group France, with profits going towards the Association Grégory Lemarchal.
In it's 4th season I saw the live performance by Gregory Lemarchal on the TV singing talent competition, 'The Star Academy France'; the equivalent of the UK's 'X Factor' or 'Pop Stars' when Gregory the 1st ever male singer to do so won the final of the competition with his version of the classic 'Et Maintenant'. Gregory also remains the singer to gain the greatest number of public votes ever achieved by any singer in the history of the competition!' I was moved to tears listening to him singing the song, this young man sang from his heart and brought the song to life and in the video it can be seen members of the orchestra accompanying him crying, knowing he having serious health issues was determined to succeed in achievement in the field he loved most 'Music'! Gregory from a baby suffered from Cystic Fibrosis which is terminal and affects the lungs! With this knowledge it is quite incredible to hear Gregory sing so powerfully and the song featured on this CD in evidence of this fact as well as other notable songs like 'Con Te Partiro' and listen to the pitch reached by him in 'SOS Dun Terrien En Detresse' and 'The Show Must Go On' a perfect song for Gregory to personalise in his inimitable style! Gregory died at age of 23 of health complications while waiting in hospital for a lung transplant.
Merci pour votre musique Gregory!
