Three acts of lovely music performed by a french company, so you can rely on the accent if buying this as a practise aid. The soloists have clear diction and nice voices, but it's a shame that the sound engineers couldn't take out some intrusive breathing sounds from the soprano arias. In act 2, the storm effects are largely missing, apart from something that sounds confusingly like a pistol shot! All in all, a good value recording and a great listening treat.
A really beautiful version of a lovely opera. Ileana Cortrubas is at her sweet best with Alain Vanzo hitting all the high notes in the haunting 'Je crois entendre encore' and blending well with Guillermo Sarabia as Zurga in the duette
