The quality of these 1990s radio productions is excellent throughout. Even though I had a vague idea of some of the general plots from the tv series, the wonderful delivery of John Shrapnel as Morse and Robert Glenister's slightly different take on Lewis (from the South East as opposed to Tyneside) gave these productions a unique, stand-alone feel. They neither detracted from the tv show or were bogged down by its shadow. The supporting cast are very good and the stories skilfully crafted for radio. I hope they release more of these adaptations.
