This book has been like a little friend to me over the past few days (my newborn is 1 week old), giving me a much needed little hug in the middle of the night. It's such a lovely, comforting book, and is also full of such useful guidance. I also love that the book is illustrated, and the lovely illustrations fit the tone of the book perfectly. I agree with the previous review that I read and I will also be buying this for every pregnant friend!! Thank you to the authors for putting this book together for us new mums xx
This book really is ‘Everything you need to know about the postnatal period to feel supported, empowered and understood.’ I’ve brought a couple of these as gifts and I’m so happy with them! I’ve added a couple of photographs of the index to show what material is included. Perfect!
I pre-ordered this book for a friend. It looked different to the other books out there and seemed to be focussed on being supportive to new mums rather than a parenting book. As a Mum myself I thought ‘That’s what is needed!’ having ditched any books that had seem to be counter intuitive and preachy. I looked through the book to make sure it was the right sort of thing - it was and is. It is packed full of wisdom rather than advice and has so much experience and knowledge packed into it whilst keeping it light hearted. It tackles many issues that don’t get discussed and are hard to talk about. It has an offering or remedy for almost every post natal issue and all you can do at home. It’s message is supportive of women and their different choices and experiences. It’s excellent and feels like having a good chat with a wise friend. Highly recommend.
This book is an absolute god send, especially for new mums like me who don't really know what's going on or how to look after ourselves! Beccy has literally saved me during pregnancy with her actual magical hands in prenatal massage, not to mention all the supportive chats and advice during our sessions - from breastfeeding advice to exercises - And to now have her knowledge at my fingertips in book form gives me the comfort and confidence I need for the next chapter. Thank you!!
I absolutely love this book. It's a perfect balance of practical, no-nonsense guidance and also like a big, warm, comforting hug. It's written with such warmth (gorgeous illustrations too) and the passion of the authors really shines through. I really liked how it covers so many topics that don't really get properly discussed for new mums like healing after birth and the emotional transition of becoming a mum. It's my new go-to present for pregnant friends!
What an absolutely beautiful book. I so wish this had been around a few years ago when I had my babies. Everything about this book is thoughtful and makes you feel like you’re getting a huge hug when you read it. As a Midwife and a Mother I am so passionate about postnatal care and ‘mothering the mother’. This should be given out to all new mums. It’s going to be my number one go to gift now! Thank you for writing this!
Whether this is your 1st or 4th baby - this book is amazing. I'm expecting my 2nd baby very soon, and this book for me, has picked up the shortfall of support you get second time round, very nicely indeed. I am feeling very positive & empowered, thanks to this wonderful reading material. I would highly recommended this to any expectant mother/father. An absolute gem!
What a beautiful little book. Written in such a warm and supportive way. The content is spot on- really good practical and more importantly manageable advice. In our society where pretty much everything tells you to look presentable, get out there and get back in shape, this is a fantastic antidote and in no way patronising like so many other pregnancy and new mum books. I love the wonderful illustrations too, which are inclusive of all colours shapes and sizes. This makes a wonderful present- buy it for yourself or for a friend.
This book has tons of things I wish I had read before I had given birth! Definitely a great book to give or read as first time mums, with recipes, words of encouragement and support, things to think about and keep in the corner of your mind when the baby does arrive. Sadly, I found it too much to read after the baby had arrived as there was so much information in the book itself!
I Bought this book for a first time, young mum who is anxious and not coping well with her new baby. She said it has helped her to over come her anxieties and helped her to realise that parenting is a learning curve. We are not born knowing how to be mothers. We learn through trial and error. This book helps us to understand we are not alone. Thank you to the wonderful authors.
