Should be called "Waterways, cycling and walking guides"
on 11 July 2015
I now own several of these editions but not for boating. I'm a keen cyclist and walker and prefer off road cycling to on road as most drivers seem to think that double yellow lines are a cycle lane! these guides are perfect and I have already clocked up around a 1000 miles since January along the canal tow paths.
They use OS maps and despite other comments here have found them pretty accurate. So what if the pub is a bit further than the guide says and new shops and supermarkets have been built canal side that's a plus rather than a complaint and nice surprise when you discover them.
I only have one small criticisms: I can't see why guide 2 and 3 couldn't be all contained in one book.
Having said that, they are small (A5) size with a natty little page keeper built in to the back cove. The ring binder means I can leave it open at the page I need and seal it in a zip lock bag so it don't get wet when it rains. And... it already contains walking and cycling tips so perhaps change the names to: "Waterways, cycling and walking guides" and include the nearby camp sites for us lot that don't sail, is that correct? Do you sail a narrow boat or drive it? Any hoo, would I recommend them? That's a big yes.
