Kevin, like most of us at some point, has sat with mates and talked into the wee hours about going touring. Few of us remember it the next day and even fewer actually get round to it. The rarest of them all are the people that 'just head out' with little preparation, not much of an idea of where they're going and certainly without pages and pages of itinerary. Kevin did it and that, for me, is the essence and charm of the book. It's not a nuts and bolts guide to bike touring ( there are other excellent books for that ). Instead it's written and read much more like a series of letters or emails to friends, written with a glass of red in one hand and the bike keys in the other ...although that does beg the question how is he writing ?? !!
All in all an easy going, friendly and honest read about some of the things to expect when you tour Europe, in search of a good time, some new experiences and an elusive girl.
