Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Tascam DR-60D Linear PCM Recorder (Electronics)
Spent a lot of time watching every video there is online about which is better this or the Zoom H6. Seem to come down to a few things:
Zoom h6 vs Tascam:
-Zoom has more XLR inputs
-Tascam has less noise
-Zooms display is useless when in a ny sort of sunlight
- Tascam far easier to use when a one man crew for video and audio
Overall it came to essentially more XLRs vs Better sound quality. A lot of people have complained about the noise on the H6, i decided to get both and eventually decided to keep the Tascam.
As for the other review complaining about the built quality. I know someone who broke their neck strap pole on this without ever using the neck strap.
Mine is fine after 10+ uses it is plastic but feels very sturdy to me.
Only reason i am not giving it 5 stars is a couple more XLR ports would of been great.
(I saw a video complaint about how the petentiometer adds piping noises to your recording if touched during a recording. This will ONLY matter if your filming a constant tone. I have messed with it numerous time during speeches and not once have i noted in editing any pop noises)

Insightful review with pertinent info. The info about the lower noise/better sound quality in the Tascam was helpful.

Thank you for your personal review of the Tascam DR-60D especially the mention comparatively of the lower noise and better sound quality in the Tascam. I have the Zoom H2n, H1n and Tascam DR-07, DR-40 products and have always felt more drawn towards using the Tascam products although I do like the Zoom H2N for it's mid-side record and it's 5 microphone capsules. I checked out the new Zoom H6, but now my mind is made up it's going to be the Tascam DR-60D as my next purchase. Regards, Stefan
