After months of searching for something to act as an ipod dock, radio and CD player, and several returned items I am finally satisfied with this new system from Panasonic. Smart looking machine, very pleasing sliding door mechanism for inserting CDs and hiding away the ipod with an overall excellent slim design. Also takes Aux, has DAB and FM reception (note there are two versions of this design, with and without DAB) so hit all the requirements I had for my new system. No annoying transformer to hide and the unit is solid and weighty enough to not feel in danger of sliding around or being knocked over. Neat little row of buttons on top for basic controls but would be hard to use if it was on a shelf with the top at or above eye level. Full controls and plenty of features (timers, CD programming, radio presets, equaliser settings, pleasingly also separate bass and treble controls and more) via remote control. Switches on and ready to go without any complex set-up or wiring up speakers. The sound is very good for the size and price. It sounds surprisingly rich and natural - I'm happy with my Jazz through it, my daughters find their pop music as good as ever (!!!) and Radio 4 and Classic radio are also of satisfying sound quality. 20W per channel is plenty to fill our kitchen but could also cope with a bigger room. DAB reception is excellent with the supplied antenna in a difficult room which a PURE Evoke and other DAB systems failed to get sufficient signal in. FM reception is not great but now we have DAB! Only slight complaint so far is that the antennae connections stick out the back so it stops it going flush against the wall (adding another couple of cm) - the mains lead connects in at an angle to avoid this and you wonder why they didn't do the same for the antennae. Otherwise fully recommended if it hits the specs you are looking for.
