I think this is a VERY unfair review of an album of beautiful arrangements, beautifully performed.
Slow they may be but they are never dull and the title of 'Soft Lights and Sweet Music'
should have told you what to expect.
Try listening to it again with an open mind and relax into its lush atmosphere of elegance and sophistication.

You could have worked out that a CD with no vocalists listed, will not be the 'Songs from the Shows' as seen on TV.
If you want to recapture the Hollywood pizazz there's a DVD of Wilson's 2009 MGM Prom out now.

BravoBaroque says:
I am sorry, but I think you are slightly missing the point of this disc.
These are not arrangements by John Wilson, but his conducting of classics in arrangements by Angela Morley. So all John is doing is playing her arrangements, and not interpreting these classics.
