Customer Review

on February 27, 2002
This first effort by Jose Cura is exceptional. For those who love Puccini, he sings it as it should be sung. Plenty of 'macho' when it should be, yet tender and gentle in the more sentimental arias. You can tell this is one of Cura's early recordings, as he has not yet developed the full range of emotions as are shown later in his 'Verdi Arias'. None the less it is excellent. Unusually it deals with the Puccini operas in reverse order. This means you get Nessun Dorma first!! but have to wait for what I consider the best part - Manon Lescaut.
