Star Trek finally has a dark side...,

This review is from: Star Trek - Enterprise - Series 3 - Complete (Slimline Edition) [DVD] (DVD)
Season 3 of Enterprise is a sudden turn away from the content I had become familiar with in Seasons 1 and 2. The "temporal cold war" seemed to be going nowhere and as such I am glad that the writers decided to focus upon something more substantial for the characters to sink their teeth into. Following a massive attack upon Earth, which has left millions dead, the Enterprise is sent into the "expanse" to seek out the mysterious creators of the weapon. What follows is a long story arc that lasts for the entirety of season three and it works to great effect.
This season is much darker than any Star Trek (perhaps excepting the later seasons of Deep Space Nine) as there are some real moral and ethical questions that appear throughout the episodes. Star Trek does have a habit of posing such questions though the form in which they appear and also the way in which they are acted are the best I have seen. Captain Archer especially faces some difficult times in this series as he can no longer afford to constantly stand the moral high ground as the fate of his species hangs in the balance.
I have thoroughly enjoyed season three, of all of the seasons of Enterprise this is without doubt my favourite.
