Can't wait for her next release,
This review is from: Devotion (Audio CD)
It's an interesting contradiction , how natural and everyday-like Jessie Ware sounds on interviews and at the same time how extraordinaryly sensual and stylish on record and in her video clips .Great music deserves to be heard and this debut of hers has found it's audience , rightly so .
"Wildest Moments " with it's eerie video clip with a camera swirling around an uber-stylish Ware had become a big radio hit last year but it's just one of the great moments in this tracklist . " Who Says No To love " for example becomes more and more addictive everytime Ware sings the title question , for which the answer is obviously nowone . " Running " has a thrilling vocal climax and elegance worthy of the best Sade's tracks while the title track " Devotion " is a dark, seductive , champagne flavored melody in which the singer demands more faith from her lover but the mood feels to be that preceding a break up .
Ware has a powerful voice and a killer taste when it comes to texture and production . Even when she covers other people's songs , like on Bobby Caldwell's " What You Won't Do For Love " , it's minor details like the fine male backing vocals that really make the difference .
I can go on forever on how sophisticated and beautiful this record sounds .Without doubt a must-have!
