Get your roller skates on, purchase some polyester hot pants, get your glittering Boob tubes, swallow some Quaaludes and dig your flares out ;Henry Stone's has just resurrected some Glittering disco Gems!! As far as compilations go, in my experience its always hit and miss; either you go safe and get the rank/cheesy/handbags at dawn/crowd pleasing frivolous garbage that gives Disco Music such a bad name or go ALL the Way. Thanks my Paradise garage/studio 54/crowd and tunnel's stars for this treasure; The opener "Star Cruising" is a sweaty, sleazy West Hollywood work out like we haven't heard in a while (4 decades in fact),quickly followed by the original Philly version of "let it Flow" sweet and sticky as a Sugar Chicken, as I am grabbed by the Funk driven Love Machine I am letting go, daddy dancing to the poppers infused Gay anthem Manu Manu which is raising the heat a few degrees more just listen to the break), then T-connection deliver with the scorching "On Fire" the get your shirt off/Disco work out by excellence (I will need a hip replacement after that one!),followed a shower of lush strings, soulful vocals, tight drumming, Hard Funk (and I mean hard) to cool down while easing the listener into "Plato's retreat" a Polyester,/Disco balls confection with a dash of Philosophy? An Ambitious ,glamorous Camp, OTT track leading us to the grand finale "Heavenly" sounding like a sexier version Charlie's Angels theme's song with more hairspray and sunshine, amazing.
