is this set closed captioned?,
This review is from: Pie in the Sky - The Complete Collection [DVD] (DVD)
I bought the 2004 box set and was dismayed to find it was not closed captioned or subtitled. Does anyone know whether or not this new set is? I'm hard of hearing and can't watch at all without the captioning. Thanks so much, Cathleen
PS: I love this series and recommend it unreservedly. The scripts and acting are excellent throughout.

I've looked around and so far, I haven't found the closed captioned or subtitle informtion, cathleencat. It's not mentioned on the Fremantle information page (below). Their telephone number is located at the bottom of this information page. Worst case, I've pre-ordered the set and could post the subtitle/closed captioned information once I receive it (here in the U.S.). Hoping for the best!

No Cathleen. There aren't subtitles or close-captioning i'm afraid. The cases also have really flimsy catches inside. It's so bad that i'm returning it.

Cathleen - As ed has explained, no cc or subtitles and a terrible case. I posted another comment under ed's review that you might be interested in seeing. I've returned all of the copies that I received from AmazonUK because the catches (hinges) and wheels were broken and of such a poor quality. The worst dvd cases that I have ever seen! As of now, after three attempts, I do not own the series.

Thanks for your report, RD. What I did was to buy a region-free DVD player - a very cheap one that includes CC; be sure to check for that function. Cost me 47.00US. Then I ordered Pie in the Sky from cd universe here. Since DVDs are required to be SDH here, the entire series is captioned and has a good box and ok cases in good shape. Maybe a bit more than you would pay in UK, but definitely worth it. I just tried for Allo, Allo, from hmv but the first series wasn't captioned so I bought it here - for more yes, but the SDH are worth it to me. Hope this helps. Cathleencat
