Customer Review

on 4 February 2006
Well Built (Charging base is NOT flimsy - just low profile) - Phone indicates that it is charging. Works very well - but only if you configure you computer correctly - DO NOT use the later drivers on the Linksys website - these require a password (linksys) but don't work properly. If you have a computer where you only have a single logon profile it is doubtful you will have issues - but if you have a computer where multiple users logon and you use locally connected microphone and speakers also you may come across the same issues as I did. Read below on how to configure...
OS - Windows XP Media Center Edition (Probobly the same config if XP Home or Pro
Create a new user account (suggested name Start) and make local administrator
Install Latsest Skype client if you have not already done so and configure to logon automatically and configure to NOT set to offline after inactivity
Logon as this user and install software from supplied CD
Configure Skype to use sound device linksys CIT200
Goto control panel and Sounds Speech and Audio Devices - Click sounds and audio devices - Ensure that Audio settings and Voice settings (tabs) are configured to use CIT200) and set volume (Volume tab) for High)
Logout then logon in turn as everyother user on your computer and set the sounds settings in control panel (as above) to your local speakers and microphone. - INPORTANT - I found that settings change after hitting 'Apply' or 'OK' - make sure settings are saved correctly or audio from/to CIT200 will redirect to wrong place.
Configure your computer to automtically logon as the 'Start' user you created (see Microsoft KB for more info).
Use a specific Skype account that you ONLY use for the 'Start' account.
Reboot and check everything works
Doing the above on my computer the phone is awesome. I rang a number of my friends and family and they didn't know I was using Skype to call them (SkypeOut).
Very good piece of kit and Amazon price is v good and was delivered on time (as expected with Amazon)
If you want to replace your PSTN phone (like I did) or have a proper conversation with people without browsing the net at the same time then buy one of these!!! - Best thing you can buy to do this job at the moment.
