A superb, clear, and unbiased account of the Glasgow anarchist!,
This review is from: An Anarchist's Story: The Life of Ethel MacDonald (Paperback)
Superbly written book on the relatively forgotten Glaswegian anarchist Ethel MacDonald. As a contemporary, comrade and friend of Guy Aldred, Ethel's story would be of great interest for just that reason. The fact that her story is maybe more exraordinary than Aldred's, yet remarkably ordinary is a credit to her working-class and particularly her anarchist principles.
As exciting as her experiences in Spain during the Spanish revolution were, it was her actions as a foot-soldier for the working-classes in Scotland that we should celebrate her for the most.
It's a hugely enjoyable read.
