5.0 out of 5 stars DESERT ISLAND MATERIAL, 19 July 2011

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: An American Trilogy (4xCD) (Audio CD)
This entire 4CD collection is superb, but, the crowning glory is CD2, ''Frisco Mabel Joy'. Like Dennis Wilson's 'Pacific Ocean Blue', 'Frisco...' is a lost classic, unavailable on CD and hard to find on vinyl. But the wait has been worth it...if I was about to embark on my desert island sojourn, this box set would be one of my selections. There are obvious comparisons to John Stewart, Kris Kristofferson and others, but this stuff is essential Americana, and at a superb price. Turn the lights down, relax, and immerse yourself in this remarkable music.

I totally agree , it's classic. I'm also a big John Stewart fan. Any other lost classics you can recommend , i'm always searching for new stuff to explore ?

Hi William. On January 7th 2012 on BBC Radio Merseyside there is a tribute to John Stewart by Spencer Leigh with a panel consisting of Buffy Ford, Andy Fergus, Andrew Doble, Geoff Davies and myself talking about the great man. You can hear it on the 'Listen Again' facility for a week after the broadcast. Cheers, Brian O'Connell
