What sets this book apart from much of the mindfulness literature is that it is a book to be experienced as well as read! Chozen Bays introduces a different mindfulness practice for each week of the year (53 in total) and the invitation is to simply get curious and give them a go! Each weekly practice starts with a description of the task, followed by some ideas about how to remind yourself to do it throughout the day and week! This is followed by a section on discoveries including observations & insights and finally some reflection on the deeper lessons the practice or exercise conveys.
Starting 2nd January 2012 I will be blogging about my experiences of these practices in real time (starting with practice/chp 1 for week 1 of 2012) on my blog at embrace mindfulness.
