Gio's old friend from high school Felix has hit the big time in boxing, world champion. He visits the 5th Street Gym, as it was where he first got into boxing. Gio has had a bad time recently, and has sworn never to box again. Felix offers Gio a job as his sparring partner for his upcoming fight. Gio happily accepts, when he arrives at the training camp he meets Bianca Felix's girlfriend. She went to the same highschool as Felix and Gio. But she wasn't part of the popular crowd like them, Gio always thought she was cute though. But now she has blossomed into a real beauty.
I read the reviews on Amazon.com, and noted that some did not like the cheating aspect of this book. But I did not find this bothered me. As th author handled it very well IMO.The story shows the building attraction between Gio and Bianca. But they both know what they are feeling is wrong. Especially as Gio is and Felix are very old friends. The relationship between Felix and Bianca is rocky, and at best could only be described as a long distance one. As Felix is always on the move. I thought that even without Gio in the picture, Bianca was a fool to stick with Felix, he wasn't a serious relationship kind of a guy. But I suppose then we wouldn't have had a story. As for the writing that was brilliant, the characters are very well developed. I simply adored Gio, he was everything a girl could wish for. Bianca was bright funny and intelligent. I liked the way the relationship between Gio and Bianca built. The secondary characters were an essential part of the story. It was great to catch up with all the characters from the gym especially Noah and Roni who featured in the first book of the series. Noah (5th Street #1). All in all a great addition to this series.
