Tinariwen or Toumast it's not, yet it's probably unfair to judge this CD by those criteria. The sounds on offer are far more ambient, consisting of campfire songs and chants with sparse accompaniment, sometimes just handclaps, a drum or a single fiddle type instrument. That said, it's quite attractive and draws you into a kind of campfire reverie. The voices are untrained but strong and raw, immediate. The whole thing is obviously authentic and makes you want to be there, clapping, swaying and sipping tea in the desert night.
