This review is from: The Scorpion King (Hong Kong Legends) [DVD] (DVD)
The film contains possibly the most under-rated and over looked star of the nineties, Chin Kar Lok. Chin toiled away for many years as a stunt man, visible in many Sammo Hung - Jackie Chan collaborations in the eighties. In the film he is pitted against super kicker (possibly some of the best boot work ever screened), Yuen Jung (the Scorpion King of the title). The film feels like an updated version of Snake in the Eagles Shadow (down trodden victim, becoming super fighter, to over come super kicker). It boasts some excellent cinematography, and feels like a comic book. In addition to the excellent boot work it also contains stunt work of the extreme (Chins body takes one extreme battering). It also co stars Lau Kar Leung (famed Hung Gar Sifu and Shaw Brothers director/actor). Nearly as good as Drunken Master 2 (which Chin also co-stars in).
