3.0 out of 5 stars MMM! Not sure..., 12 May 2010
This review is from: Everyday Crochet (Paperback)
I love the patterns in this and the idea that you can adapt each pattern into different lengths/sleeve styles etc.

However, I did not find the patterns easy to follow; I am certainly not a beginner but still maybe it is just me?

I would say you must be an advanced crocheter to get any really use out of this book.

Phew, glad I'm not the only one. I too really love the simple idea of using shells creatively to make lovely tops but I've had to undo (rip) one of the patterns (Somnambulista) 4 times now because the instructions are so poorly laid out. Sadly I can't say that Doris's latest book Crochet Lace Innovations has as practical items as contained in this book.

I am a beginner and have done 2 patterns from this book. I found Ravelry.com to be an invaluable source of help - there are lots of tips and comments there on how to proceed with the patterns if you get stuck. I love Doris Chan's patterns and plan on doing a couple more!
