Forced dialogue is the bane of my life!!! Almost EVERY line in dialogue is either started or ended with the other person's name. NOBODY speaks like that. The rest of the dialogue especially the arguments between the two main characters had a feeling of immaturity.
The FL is supposed to be a strong willed, badass cop. But she comes across as flighty and childish rather than assertive and strong. She is sometimes just down right stupid.
The ML who is supposed to be the Vampire leader of his area often did not hear or sense others enter a room or area before the FL did. It just did not make sense. The secondary characters were over familiar with their leader and there was no balance between the respect you would expect everybody to show a badass Vampire Leader and a very familiar, casual display of friendship.
I really had to force myself to keep on reading this book from about 15% into it. The storyline is by far not original. While reading the book several other books just like this one popped to mind.
The story is good. This formula has been tried and tested and it works. You can't go wrong with it. But the writing style lets this one down.
I will definitely not be reading any other books in this series.
