Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Samsung T27A950D 27" 3D LED TFT TV Monitor Digital TV Tuner with Samsung 3D Glasses (Accessory)
Okay here goes... First time have made a complete review.

Bought this to replace 23" monitor for my computer to get a big better picture, still to fiddle around with it and have had it for one day.

Pros
The looks is brilliant and so sexy, easy to tilt the screen and comes with options to adjust the screen if you are looking from above or below or standard straight on.
Very easy to setup, Plug and play, setup for Free-view very easy as long as you set for UK, but however not HD Free-view.
3D is brilliant, just played DIRT 3, WOW! Very simple to setup the 3D glasses, just put the battery in them and press the button, little message comes up that they are connected although it say's LED light should show, but cannot find it on the glasses.

What's bad..
My old system..
[...]
Has anti glare, that is you cannot see yourself or back ground reflected in the screen, this does not unfortunately, so rather annoying.
Comes with all necessary connectors HDMI cable etc even European plug as it comes from Germany, but no HDMI to DVI -
[...]
But had one anyway. Still works if you have graphics card with full HDMI.
Will not record TV programs unless you hook up a HDD drive USB, but this is standard, have an LG smart TV that's the norm.
Hooking up LAN to get the Smart Hub is very easy also, but no free 3D programs to test as you do get with LG TV's.

Overall worth the money as far as 27" goes on the market. Will needs to get used it as ever.

Hi,
You say you got an HDMI/DVI convertor. Was this so you could plug into the DVI connector on video card and then plug HDMI into monitor? Will this allow you to have the PC using 120hz? I wanted the model down from this that had a dual link DVI socket installed. The TV version of this monitor has no DVI input but I want the 120hz.
Can you tell me if there is a way to get 120hz to the monitor without using dual link DVI or the DP connection ( which my graphics card doesn`t have )
Thanks
Ade

Hi Ade, Will answer best I can... Yes correct, this version has not got the DVI port so you do have to use a convertor, When you select on the remote button for the "Source" you have TV, HDMI/DVI, Ext (Scart), AV, HDMI2, Component, USB, AllShare.

As far as i can tell your Graphics card must control the Hz not the monitor, mind you I am not an expert in these matters but think it should accept with no problems. I would contact Samsung support for more info.

Just an update - Todate no faults, 3d is brilliant compared to my LG55".

Hope ths helps.. Mully

Thanks for the quick reply. The cable you use to convert to DP - do you plug the DVI end into the PC and the DP end into the monitor? Will this allow you to produce a 120hz signal to the monitor? I`ve seen some adaptors and some are called `active` and some are usb powered. Do I need the dear ones or will the cheaper ones work? I realise it must be dual DVI ( and have ALL the pins in the cable ) and I`m guessing the adapter too. I wanted the S model of this - wasn`t bothered about the tuner. But can`t get it anywhere. I had one, but it was badly damage physically and i had to send it back. The S model has a 2ms response time and DVI, whereas this one has no DVI and 5ms.
I really love the design though, and the 3D is tempting, but I want it to run at 120hz more than anything.
Thanks again
Ade

Hi Ade, Again would contact Samsung support to answer your Q&As m8. Yes DVI end into PC and DVI adaptor that came with PC/Graphics card. Set at 60hz and as far as i can see cannot go higher. Although overclocked ha ha!. Do not think getting higher spec cables would make any diff but again not an expert, think you would have to go for the 799 GBP (Much higher res) model but not looked at the spec's.
Google is always a help m8.. just put the model number in and "specs" after it, reviews on YouTube as always a help also..

Ok, thanks again. I`ve been googling about this for ages now and can`t get a difinitive answer! I will try and contact Samsung technical support. I see my activity here has caused Amazon to up the price. When I looked yesterday it was £453, when I looked this morning at 7am it was £486. Now they`ve just (9:00) lowered it to £463. What they are playing at I don`t know. Back to Google for now then. Thanks for your quick replies Mully. :)

By the way - what cables (if any) came with the monitor?
