Customer Review

on 23 February 2010
This is a lovely cookery book for kids, which is ideal to get them started and build their confidence (not sure why other reviewers comment negatively on it being aimed at kids, since the Usborne books are specifically for kids?).
The book is worth owning for the shining stars recipe alone - although those attempting this should be aware that the dough is a bugger to roll out! Still, it's well worth the effort, as the resulting biscuits look like they have centres of stained glass (word of warning: don't use them as decorations on the tree in a warm room or a hot climate, as the centres may melt!)
The coconut mice recipe is brilliant for small children, and tastes surprisingly good - when the children finally lost interest, we adults discovered that you can easily use the remaining mix to make coconut hedgehogs (just use more of the flaked almonds to make the prickles!)
