I'd say this is the best baby book that I bought. It's approach, is thoughtful and full of common sense. Leach tried to explain things from the child's point of view as much as possible. When you are trying to reflect on how to handle your babies, she manages to explain what's going on in their little heads. She isn't dictatorial in style, and most of the sections involve debating the options rather than offering blanket rules. On the other hand there is a lot of advice in the book and you shouldn't be afraid to ignore it if you don't agree with it. We started weaning much later than suggested in this book, and as a result weaning was easy. The medical advice too isn't as good as in "What to Expect in the First Year". But overall, this is the book I keep referring back to as my children grow up - recommended for all expecting parents.
